The GIVE-2 Corpus of Giving Instructions in Virtual Environments
The GIVE-2 corpus is a multilingual corpus of human instruction giving in virtual environments designed to support the development of natural language generation systems for GIVE. It consists of 45 German and 63 American English written discourses in which one subject guided another in a treasure hunting task in the spirit of the GIVE-2 virtual worlds. The corpus can thus serve both as a source of data and as a point of comparison for natural language generation systems.
On this page you can view and play back the complete GIVE-2 corpus. If you are interested in obtaining the data, please contact us. More information can be found here:

How to use the replay tool
In order to run the replay tool you need to have Java 5 (or later) installed on your system. You can download the Java version your operation system needs here. Additionally, you need to allow connections to database.give-challenge.org in the confirmation dialog that pops up after starting the replay.
By starting the replay you will be able to browse through the 45 German and 63 English language instruction giving sessions contained in the corpus, and reproduce all events that happened throughout the sessions. Once the GIVE-2 Map Replay window appears, select Open Database... from the File menu to open the database table with all session entries. You may need to resize the window that appears for a full inspection of the table. Choose one of the entries by selecting it and then clicking on Ok.
Now you can start the reproduction using the playback button in the main GIVE-2 Map Replay window. Control the speed of the playback and browse through the instruction-giving and action manipulation events that took place within the session. In the Game Replay window, at the same time, you can watch these events happening from a top-down perspective that gives you a complete overview of the virtual environment. Hover your mouse over the different objects on the map to find out about their functions in the virtual world.
